Banners and flags have been in use for thousands of years. Indeed almost every society in which people live under urban conditions has had historic flags or vexiloids, which are flag-like objects, the vast majority of which have had religious or military significance. In the last few centuries historic flags have also been used for political parties, commercial enterprises, and signaling purposes (for example mount flag poles for sea vessels and such). The national flag is more of recent development, interestingly.
An assembly adopted the official design of the Pakistani banner a few decades ago. The flag features two fields, or maybe better said one field, which is dark green in color. To the left of the green field is a white vertical band, which is smaller sized. This national flag was adopted right around the time it was granted independence and is a fitting representation of the Pakistani republic.
The white vertical band on this banner stands for the country's religious minorities. A more recent interpretation sees white as the color of peace and green as that of prosperity. The national flag, as proudly flown from tall flag poles at times, is also used by the navy of Pakistan.
Some have asked me the question white the color green is more prominently used than white. Good question I reply each time that question is asked. White is said to symbolize the minorities in the republic. Green represents prosperity. The variant flag also features a red color field with the national flag in the canton.
The aforementioned All-India Muslim League was originally founded back in 1906. Considered a political party to secure and maintain the Muslim interest in the then called "British India," this league played a substantial part or role during the forties in then organized independence movement or party. In fact, in the republic of Pakistan, and at that time, this movement functioned as the very first official government of the country. Some years later it fell apart however as a result of a coup executed by the army.
This country is located in the southern part of the continent of Asia and borders the Arabian Sea, and the Gulf of Oman. Pakistan has one of the largest armies in the world and also possesses nuclear weapons. As of late, the relationship between Pakistan and the United States of America has been under pressure. Another ally to this country is neighboring country China, located on the northeast side of this Asian republic.
The naval ensign is a different variant of the current national Pakistani banner. The proportions are 2:1, which is different from the national flag, which is 2:3. Variants of international ensigns are harder to find and hence purchase in the U.S.A. Most historic national flags are available however for use with people's respective flagpoles.
