Today’s corporate world is filled with arbitrarily imposed deadlines. Everyone is in a hurry to get things done now, right away and ASAP. Eliminate these meaningless timeframes from your life. We all know that a job will take a finite number of hours to be completed if you want it done right; most times these deadlines are imposed because we have failed to vocalize the fact that a particular job is going to take these many hours to do. Start vocalizing these thoughts and see what difference it makes. If you can rationally explain why a particular job is going to take time to be done well you will find the other side willing to give you that time.
To eliminate stress also stop setting yourself irrational and impossible to achieve timeframes and deadlines. Life has a way of unwinding the way it will, there is little we can do to actually change the way it unfolds. You will not get married in two years if you don’t find a person you love can love enough. You will not be able to buy a better car if you don’t get the raise at work. See your stress levels recede when you start living in a realistic timeframe.
Try and live one day at a time. The best way to eliminate stress is to evacuate the baggage of past and future and live in the present. Forget about the mistakes that you have made in the past, stop fretting about how you will fare in the future and see how stress declines. Try to live every moment in the here and now, concentrating on the task at hand.
Try and accept your surroundings and your relationships for what they are. Nothing causes stress as much as a constant denial of what and who we are. If you stop trying to change your surroundings and people you will lead a stress free and healthy life. Let the change come when it will without you trying to impose your expectation on it and remember that people don’t change beyond a certain point for most it is sixteen, struggling to change them beyond that is a worthless stress causing effort. Accept your spouse, children, parents, boss, pet, neighbor, colleague for what they are and don’t try and impose your will on them that will just lead to extreme stress and heart burn.
