Here we will discuss what are Quadratic Equations and about graphing equations. Before moving to these topic I will discuss about equations. You all may be acquainted with equations but still I would start with brief idea on this. An equation tells us that two things are same, and a mathematical statement that asserts the equality of two expression is known as an equation. For example:- 2 + 2 = 3 – 1. There are different type of equation like algebraic equation, linear equation, functional equation, polynomial equation and so on.. Now lets move on to the topic of quadratic equations.
A polynomial equation of the second degree is defined as quadratic equation. Or we can say that an equation in which highest power of unknown quantity is a square (e.g. x2 or y2) is a quadratic equation. In quadratic equations one or more variables can have degree two but its degree cannot be higher than two.
General equation of quadratic equation is ax2 + bx + c= 0 here a,b,c are constants. Their are many methods of solving quadratic equations one of these is the quadratic formula, factoring, completing the square and factors by grouping. Quadratic formula is also known as shri dharchariya's rule and it is given by:-
x=frac-b pm sqrt b^2-4ac2a,
where a,b and c are constant.
A quadratic equation with complex and real coefficients gives two solutions and they are called as its roots. These two solution may or may not be real and distinct.
In Monic form above formula can be written as :-
x = frac12 left( -p pm sqrtp^2 - 4q right)
As for graphing equations, it means how you can plot a given equation in graph. In simple words we can say that graphical representation of the equation is called as graphing equations. Usually there is the same technique for graphing linear and quadratic equations. Graphing a linear is equation is very simple as compare to quadratic equation. In linear equation you have to simply plot the values on x and y axis and it results in a straight line graph. But in quadratic equation, graphs are formed in shape of parabolas or curve lines rather then straight line. Don't get confused by these graphs they are very simple and easy once you have good knowledge of this. Our site provides you free math help to solve all your problems related to mathematics. And it gives you information of each and every topic of math.
