Companies all over the world have been installing the most expensive security systems, advanced firewalls and other types of software to detect and prevent theft, but these are to no avail. Every year, hundreds of companies report data theft that amounts to billions of dollars. Here are some of the measures that companies ought to undertake to prevent theft of data and products within their facility.

Use of technologically advanced systems:

It is impossible to prevent theft at all times, but it certainly helps to stay a step ahead of your enemy. Advanced systems like key card access systems help companies to block access to unauthorized areas. These are definitely more advanced than the old key lock systems, because all that you have to do to protect your facility is to choose places where access is to be provided, and places where they are to be avoided. And if errant employees are shown the door, their access cards can be deactivated to prevent them from misusing them. Restrictions can be placed on the most sensitive of places and access can be freely given to those where there is no likelihood of threat.

Besides the key card system, you can enhance security by providing the business security camera system. When an employee manages to trespass, these video surveillance camera systems can record the errant employee through the surveillance video. This can range from 2 to 20 mega pixels and provide a clear resolution.

Creating a concrete data protection policy:

While some of the most modern systems can help in protecting your data, they aren’t always fool proof. It’s always good to formulate a concrete and comprehensive policy to protect data. Employees should be ingrained in a culture where there is respect for the company’s security policy and the company’s resources are protected. This includes conducting workshops on a regular basis, sensitizing new employees to the data theft policy etc.

Controlling Access:

As earlier said, it is important to regulate access to employees. This includes using door intercom video systems that can secure your building and provide you with the ability to control people who come to your facility. These are ideal for offices, multi tenant apartments, senior residencies and retirement communities etc.

Besides these, small yet concrete efforts like establishing strong passwords, putting up a strong firewall, installing anti-virus protection, and finally educating employees on the right thing to do.
