The addiction to opiates must be stopped at any cost. It is running our future generation slowly.
What is drug addiction and why are people so worried about it? Well, drug addiction is a word that haunts many people. It is a disease that engulfs millions of people all around the globe every year. Abuse of drugs for quite a long period and getting physically and psychologically dependant on it is drug addiction. Addiction to drugs is caused mainly due to psychological dependence on it. Many people start taking drugs just for fun, which later turns to be life taker. It has also been seen that people get addicted to drugs accidentally in certain cases.

The deadliest drugs encountered by human beings so far are the opiates. Opiates are mainly snorted or injected. The use of opiates is practiced all over the world. Millions of people get addicted to opiates. To control the situation many countries banned opiates like heroin, cocaine etc. But, the addicts still found an alternative for their opiate addiction – painkillers. Painkillers may not be as strong as heroin or cocaine, but the little amount of opiate present in it is enough for giving a heightened feeling. Consuming 8-10 painkillers a day can give enough pleasure to a person. Even getting painkillers is not a problem for any person; he or she can get it in any medical store. All they need is acquiring a doctor’s prescription.

Addiction to painkillers has reached an alarming level within the past few years. The painkillers do not really lessens the pain, rather it ceases the work of some nerves and some parts of the brain temporarily. As a result, people cannot feel pain after taking painkillers. Painkiller addiction occurs when the initial dose of painkillers does not work and people start taking its overdose without consulting a doctor. Gradually they become physically and mentally dependent on it resulting to the addiction to painkillers.

Once a person gets addicted to painkillers, it is very hard for him or her to get out of it. If he succeeds in making a step forward, then the opiate withdrawal effect forces him to take two steps backwards. Proper treatment in any reputed opiate rehab can only help the person get rid of the addiction. Rehabs like that of the Luxury Drug Rehab have proved to be very effective for the rehabilitation of addicts. Three important factors for complete rehabilitation are treatment, comfort and care. Very few rehabs can fulfill all these criteria. Rehabs which can provide all these three facilities can only cure an addict totally. Apart from proper treatment, which is the most important factor, comfort and care are also very important during the treatment process when the withdrawal effects show up.

It is impossible to cure millions of addicts every year, but what we can do is notify the addicts and also other people about the ill-effects of painkiller addiction. Steps should also be taken by the family members of the addicts. They are the only people who can observe the addicted person closely. Stopping the addiction to painkillers can be very hard, but not impossible.
