A new approach towards treatment of drug addicts has send waves down to human right and psychologists all over the world recently. In Russia, recently patients were caged and are kept in a dormitory along with other patients for treatment. Caging has created many controversies, though it seems people and police of Russian federation are quite ok with it.

Drugs is in news once again; how far can drug addicts go for drugs is known to everyone, now; how far do you think families, drug rehabilitation centers and government can go to get addicts cure?
Well; answer to this is being practiced at Russia’s rehab center which cages addicts together on a double Decker bunk. Rehabilitation center’s staff says this has been done on request of addicts family members. Staff says, though the way seems unlawful and harsh, it is important to stop increasing relapse.
Patients were earlier handcuffed, but; it seems, that wasn’t sufficient to stop drug intakes. Doctors of rehab explain that, by making two addicts stay together they try to avoid solitude of patient; which in most cases worsens the condition. Bed chambers have better psychological effects then hand-cuffs (which make patients feel like criminals); and most importantly, since these beds are laid in dormitories, old and new, all patience stay together and help each others. For example he explains; when a new patient, undergoing detox yells "I am going to die" old patients, who have been through the stage, help him out.
Many experts worldwide are calling this a brutal primitive approach for as addiction is more complicated than it appears. Some of them alleged it is not a fully fledged treatment approach. They criticize it being based on a very unstable ground and call it myopic. According to this treatment patients an go home once they start behaving as normal people. The question is will not they run back to drugs once they get back to home or are set free?
Human right issues are also piling up against such treatments. Despite of contradictions from all over the world; this practice is strongly supported by people of Russian federation and by Russia’s drug control program executives. The reason they state is, increasing number of drug addicts in the country. According to a report there are some 1.8 million drug abusers in the country.
Families are too fed-up of their children becoming addicts, so they are requesting such harsh treatments for their children and citizens are too adamant to get addicts out of streets and corners of Russia so they are supporting it. With increasing cases of drug addiction harsh, and a more punishment like treatment is what they chose as a medium of reducing it.
President Dmitry Medvedev also accepted the fact that Russia is buried into Afghan heroine and that prevailing treatments are just not enough to control. However; this unique approach has taken world by hand. It is astonishing to see families going so far to save life of their loved ones, though this approach is myopic and cannot be sustained throughout, increasing risk of relapse.
