Power protection devices are divided into different categories like surge suppressors, voltage regulators, filters, generators and uninterruptible power supplies as well. These devices play a major role in keeping the power supply uninterrupted.
Depending on power problems, there are different types of power protection systems installed to short out the power problems like brownouts, sags, spikes, surges, sags, voltage fluctuations and the list goes on. Some of the widely used power protections are filters, Transient Voltage Surge Suppressors (TVSS), voltage stabilisers, power conditioners, inverters, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), surge suppressors, switchgear, generators and the list goes on.

All the aforementioned power protection systems have different uses and working process that are installed between the mains line and the connected devices as well as also other places. Talking about them deeply, then first of all start with the filters that are known to attenuate spikes and electrical noises down to predefined levels. It is considered as the basic and economic form of power protection.

On the other hand, TVSS or transient voltage surge suppressors is more advanced and superior to filters that clamp and also divert the excess electrical energy away from downstream loads. Interesting fact about the YVSS is that they can easily cope with lightning strike surges. For mobile base stations and heavy industrial complexes, having transient voltage surge suppressors are vital for the overall safety of the sensitive electrical devices.

Voltage stabilisers are also considered as the vital power protection systems that keep the voltage maintained at a constant level. They are connected between mains line and the electrical devices and to keep the voltage level at a constant level. Power conditioners are also the ultimate power protection option even without battery backup.

Depending on the type of devices; however, they can be either electronic based or transformer. These power protection systems provide conditioning in the form of filtering, stabilisation, regulation and the list goes on. No doubt, all the aforementioned power protection systems are known to solve different types of power protection systems, but the need of multifunctional power protection devices has always been high.

As far as the multifunctional power protection devices are concerned, the name of uninterruptible power supplies comes first in the mind. Uninterruptible power supplies, commonly referred to as UPS systems are the set of battery packs, inverter and charger. They remain idle until the mains line goes off and in that they start supplying power automatically. UPS systems are known for keeping the electrical devices powered and to provide a complete protection to them.
