Economy and unemployment are two closely related terms in the path of progress. Unemployment rate is inversely proportional to the economic progress a country is making. The International labor Organization, ILO recently published a report on global economic crisis on unemployment. It has stated that around 81 million youth are unemployed by the end of 2009, which is ever time high and it is getting increased by larger percent than the previous year.
The unemployment results in a feeling of rejection, insecurity and losing self- respect and also seeding several socio-economic problems in the society. The losing of income to meet both ends of livelihood and the emotional unbalance makes the life miserable.
The impact of this crisis have become so severe that the governments and the economists are trying harder to reduce the burden of unemployment.
Especially the youth are getting a feeling of exclusion and worthlessness, which will force them to lead a personal and socially destructive life. They even go outside the law, which is a huge headache to the government.
The younger generation is the real human resource of a prosperous nation and utilizing their potential in various fields like business, politics, engineering, medical and technical areas productively will bring a bright future for themselves and to the nation. The challenging task requires a clear vision, planning, financial back up and proper implementation of schemes and training. Many of the young people are facing challenges such as long work hours, short-term contract jobs, low pay with out any protection etc. which makes them dependent on other members of the family and in turn prone to many exploitations. One forth of the working people is younger and lay behind the poverty line by earning below US$1 per day.
In developing countries, the youth are facing much discrimination in terms of age, sex and social background. Both the developed and developing economies should plan and implement polices which counters their disadvantage against experienced and older workers. The recession in recent economy added a lot of fuel in the unemployment sector. Many become underpaid or unemployed causing a social stigma globally. The fast and effective thing, which can make a sudden change, is in the prospects of education and providing job oriented training schemes.
Exploiting various jobs that are unattended and creating and financing projects that the current market is supporting etc. are to be implanted. There are many job oriented courses which assures jobs that are offering attractive pay packages, which can thus make the dream of average people a truth. Welding technology, mining engineering etc. are only a few in that list. Several reputed organizations are giving internationally accepted certified courses in the welding technology in various risky ventures like oil digs, nuclear power plant etc. Wherever structures with metals are required, welders are inevitable in every industry.
