Overview
The holiday resort, Playa de las Américas is situated between the municipalities of Arona and Adeje and is in south Tenerife which is a part of Canary Islands. This resort was constructed by the side of the town, Los Cristianos in the 1960s. You can find nightclubs, bars, restaurants and other attractions in this place.The sand in the beaches here are dark because they are native volcanic sand. Hence most of the beaches have been man made using imported African sand. The nightlife of Tenerife is centered on mainly this resort and these include Veronicas strip, the Patch and Starco Commercial Centre.The Veronicas Strip is famous for the number of bars and clubs and these are housed in five buildings each with 3 floors. The holiday resort, Los Cristianos is adjacent to this resort and is constructed around a fishing village. The streets of the old port still retain its original ambience. You will be able to shed some of your weight if you hike Montana Gauza that is 428 M high.

The average temperatures in a year are as follows.
Maximum – 24 °C in the month of August-September
Minimum – 16 °C in January
Cuisine
This resort is famous for its British breakfasts and photo menus showing the various types of meals that are available throughout the day. You can also get meals from fast food restaurants. In the recent past various types of meals – Chinese, Italian, Canarian – are available.
Sports and Entertainment
The tourists that come to this place are in the age group of 18 to 35 and they come mainly from Western Europe to enjoy the nightlife here. This resort lies near the African coast and hence tends to be warmer than other European resorts thereby making it well suited for winter holidays.There are number of beaches for the enjoyment of the family. Aqualand contains large number of pools, waterfalls, slides and dolphin shows which children will enjoy.The beach in this resort – Playa de Guincho – is very popular with the windsurfers and surfers in spite of the fact that it is rocky. You can find the main beach more sandy and comfortable and you have options for various types of water sports.
Shops
Shopping here is centered on catering to tourists. You can easily get swimsuit, sangria or snorkel mask. Alcohol and cigarettes are relatively cheap here.
