Planning an Australian vacation can be actually as exciting as the trip itself. After, you need to fit in as much things to do in one or two weeks. And in the case of Australia, the country has so much to offer that it can be quite difficult in choosing what to include in your itinerary.
Thus you need to plan out your vacation in order to make the most out of it. Here are some tips that you can use in choosing the places you want to go. Also included are some suggestion for cities that you might want to go to along the way. Note however, that these are not definite, and you are still the one to finalize the details of your trip.
First of all, you need to think what you want to do in Australia. Don't go for the “I want to try everything” part, this will actually be more difficult to accomplish than to say. Besides, if you go by this, you will find soon enough that you have actually spent more than what you intended which will definitely be very frustrating.
Instead, you should have an itinerary already in hand. It is actually easy to prepare one, since all you need is some brochure to help you know the details of each destination. You also need to have some theme in mind to group your activities. This will save you the cost of moving to and from a city often just to get to other attractions. For example, you might want your vacation to be an outdoor activity. If you want to try different sets of activities, then group similar ones by the day you will do them.
Now here are some tips in choosing specific destinations.
If you want to do the more conventional tourist sightseeing activities, such as going to parks and landmarks, then you might want to just stay in the major cities. Sydney is a good choice for this, since it has many museums and interesting places that you can. You can ride a tour bus one going to these places or get there using to the public transportation for a more exciting experience. Also, most of these have guided tours, so you will be able to learn a thing or two while taking pictures.
If you want to do something a bit more exciting, then head for the Outback for a series of outdoor activities. The Outback is not actually a single place, it is a general term for any area that is outside the major cities. One very good activity to do is backpacking, where you walk a trail. And one of the most challenging trails to take is the Bibbulmun trail in Kalamandi. This is not for the faint of heart though, as you will be trekking for almost a thousand kilometers!
Finally, for those wanting to have a relaxing stay near the ocean, then head for Queensland's Gold Coast. The area has plenty of beach resorts that you can book in. Also, you can try one of the many Great Barrier Reef tours being offered there. These range from boat rides to actual dives underwater.
