The rocky terrain of Extremadura is composed of Montes de Toledo, Cordillera Central and Sierra Morena Mountains. The highest point of this region lies at an altitude of 2401 meters above sea level and it is located in the Sierra de Béhuard Mountain. Extremadura has several magnificent rivers that make up the complex hydrographic network. Some of them are the Guadalquivir River, the Tagus River (it is the biggest one) and the Guadiana River. These rivers and their tributaries flow through gorges situated in the Majestic System of Central mountains. The largest reserve in Extremadura is called Monfragüe and in 2007 it was declared as the national park. It is under the UNESCO protection. Some of the rare animal species such as Black Vultures and the Spanish Imperial Eagle live in Monfragüe natural reserve.
