It is not only drug or alcohol intake that makes people anesthetizes addicts, but painkillers too make people addicts. Several families in America are suffering from over usage of painkillers. Addiction of painkillers should not e considered any less severe than that of narcotics.

Drug addiction is a severe problem for its effects result in social problems as well. Apart from resulting in-to 40 million serious illness or injuries among people, it creates social problem likes drug driving, violence, stress and child abuses, criminal offences, peccadilloes; complicity leading to privation, work problems and harm to unborn babies.
These dependencies are nothing less than that of cocaine and heroin. A person addicted to these painkillers needs rehab detox as much as the cocaine addict does. Prescription of these drugs makes them easily available in the market and t becomes easy to buy them in bulks. Everybody relays on painkillers for the relief from ailments such as headaches, cramps, injuries, etc. unfortunately some of us start relaying on them too much. For them, the reliance changes from being medicinal to physical. A drug popularly taken for pain relief gradually creates a demand in an individual's body for it. Patient becomes an addict and feels anxious, weak and restless without it.
Painkillers have become a substitute for drugs because they create the same sensation in the body as drugs do. Patient takes a pill and soon after words the feeling of pain is reduced or eliminated. They create a kind of mental and physical numbness. Painkillers are soothing and pleasant. They make patient feel relaxed and relieved. Some painkillers induce effects like that of euphoria, one experience after intense physical hard work. These painkillers being easily available in markets work miraculously without many efforts on the patient’s part. Therefore, they reach to the level of addiction.
Rehab detox of such patients become important as over consumption of drug starts affecting body parts and can damage them. After long term intake of pills, it becomes hard to extricate the spell of painkillers and patient turns into an addict.
Continuous intake of pills maintains a constant level of the drug in the blood stream. Such patients are called drug seekers, as they always look for reasons to take painkillers. They feel left-out, betrayed and stigmatized. They force themselves so much into prescribed drug addiction that rehab detox becomes the only option for making them sober again. Similar to narcotics, painkillers also have been damaging effects on the body. There have been cases of liver damage due to excessive intake of painkillers. Patients become restless and anxious without it. They seek it every time.
In fact, they maintain a constant level in their blood stream. Change in their personality can easily e studied. They tend to withdraw from society, and they become abusive in nature.
