OFFSite SEO is the search engine optimization done for your site outside your website. It is very important as OnSite SEO because OFFSite SEO works like a public relation officer for your website. It involves announcing your website to the Internet world through online press releases, submitting your site to directories where people can find your site and getting back links to your site.
While it is not possible to list all the good and bad things to consider while optimizing your site for search engines, I will list you the major strategies here. It is very important that you need to adhere to white hat SEO strategies. Search engines are sensitive to any black hat techniques you use to trick them. This may eventually result in a ban of your website on search engine results which is the worst thing to happen for any website. So here we go..
.
The Do’s of OFF site Optimization
- Submit the SiteMap of your site to Google/Yahoo & Bing and make sure it is crawled perfectly.
- Manually submit your site to top directories like DMOZ, Yahoo directory etc.
- Distribute PR’s regularly on any new product launch, Merger, announcements etc to online PR sites with backlinks.
- Create useful articles and submit them at good article directories like EZA, Buzzle etc with back links.
- Use Knol, e-how and other community site to promote your business and to get authority back links
- Occasionally release product or service videos at video sharing sites like youtube.
- Prepare case studies, whitepapers and distribute them for free at document sharing sites and white paper libraries.
- Relevancy of your back links is very important. Get links from sites related to the category of your website.
The Don’ts
- Do Not, I repeat do not try to trick search engines through multiple submission spamming.
- Do Not use automated seo tools which promise high positions. This may lead to Ban. Google has announced a list of blacklisted SEO automated tools.
- Do Not use automated submission tools which claim to submit to 1000’s of search engines and directories.
- Do Not get paid links from sites which sell paid links or paid reviews.
.
Although there are much more do’s and don’ts in offsiite SEO, this will give you a basic idea on what to do and what not to do. Happy SEOing..
