Gap between petrol and diesel price has been increased this much that all automakers are forced to manufacture diesel variant of their cars. Earlier when petrol and diesel cars sales ratio was 45:55, later reached to 20:80. and now the due to hike in petrol price by Rs 3.14,the gap between diesel and petrol price is Rs 26, so seeing this condition automakers are speeding their production work of manufacturing Diesel cars and placing petrol prices very competitively for staying in the market, otherwise they will be kicked off, well same is with Nissan. The japanese auto group after launching petrol variant of Nissan Sunny 2 days before which is expected to grave large market share , now planning to come up with diesel variant of Sunny sedan for acquiring better chances. The diesel powered is expected to be taged competitively at no more than a lakh above the petrol variant. Nissan Sunny petrol version is offered at Rs 5.78 lakh for its base variant. As for launch, the Nissan Sunny diesel variant will be brought in before the end of this fiscal year, and for this engineers of middle east and india has been asked to speed up the things.

Nissan Sunny specifications comprise 1.5 Liter K9K Dci engine which is expected to produce power of 85 Bhp at 4000 rpm and a peak torque of 200 NM at 1800 rpm. Currently Renault Fluence, Nissan Micra are some of the other cars which are using this dCi engine, but a diesel engine coupled with attractive price tag seems to be a perfect strategy for panic to its rivals like Toyota Etios and Maruti Swift Dzire . It is said that with 1000 kg mass the car might be a very frugal sedan accommodated with safety features.

However the market expert comment that why to delay the launch when they have deiesl engine. Well answer is as simple as fact that inclinations towards diesel cars is not forever, as diesel and petrol prices are not permanent., whenever the gap will be reduced, people will again demand the petrol variants and one more reason is that when oil marketing companies have been raising petrol prices in line with global crude prices, the diesel variant will create a huge sales and company is not in the position to maintain that, as for now the firm needs time to strengthen its dealerships in India and wants to buy the technology from the European manufacturers.
