• Watermelon seeds: Watermelon tea can help flush your system effectively and treat bladder and prostate problems. You can make the tea by pouring a pint of boiling water over 1/8 cups of fresh seeds. The tea is cooled and strained before use. A pint of this tea daily is recommended for good results.
• Fish: Fish rich in omega 3 oils can fight tumor growth and prostate cancer. Salmon, tuna and mackerel are all high in such oils.
• Corn silk: Amish men have used corn silk for generations to cure symptoms of BPH. Silk is cut from corn, around 6 ears, and boiled in 1 quart water for 10 minutes. Three cups of the strained water every week can give you relief from BPH symptoms.
• Tomatoes: Try to increase the intake of tomatoes in your diet. Consuming tomatoes, two servings, a week can lower your chances of prostate cancer by almost a half. It contains an antioxidant called lycopene which helps in fighting cancer.
• Soy: A diet rich in soy prevents BPH. They contain phytoestrogens which have the ability to lower the production of testosterone. Testosterone aggravates cancerous growth in the prostate. The phytoestrogens also stunt the development of blood capillaries around tumors growing in the prostate.
• Stinging nettle: The nettle inhibits the testosterone related protein function in the cells of the prostate and gives relief from prostate problems. It is available in capsules and it is recommended to consult your doctor for the right dosage.
• Saw palmetto: Saw palmetto extracts improve urinary functions and can treat BPH effectively. The extract reduces the production of certain hormones that cause the enlargement of the prostate. It is available as a supplement in most health stores. A physician can recommend the right dose.
