Upon you first arrival to the Eco-Me website homepage you are asked the question, “What does NATURAL mean to you?” The question serves a dual purpose: the first is to highlight Eco-Me’s dedication to creating great products using only whole, natural ingredients, many of which you would find in your home and second, to raise the question in your mind about the products you currently are using in your home.
“Natural” has taken on a host of meanings in today’s language, and sometimes, upon closer inspection, what’s listed as natural in some products does not seem so natural at all. Recent studies have revealed that products from many household-name cleaning product brands contain harmful ingredients including chemical preservatives, synthetic fragrances and even sulphates and dyes which prove to be strong eye and skin eye irritants.
Take, for example, preservatives found in nationally-recognized “green” cleaning brands like methylisothiazolinone, which can raise immune system and allergy concerns, or benzisothiazolinone, which can irritate skin and has been linked to cancer. The Environmental Working Group lists both as moderate hazards, and yet, the products they are contained in are regularly lauded as safe and natural.
Aroma is another area that raises concern when it comes to natural products. Most fragrances are now composed of synthetic materials, even in some natural cleaning products, using up to 100 chemical ingredients to produce a single fragrance found in cleaning products. Unfortunately, nearly two out of five Americans report adverse effects when exposed to some kind of fragranced product.
According to the EPA, air in homes is up to seven times more chemically polluted than outdoor air, with the average home containing more than 25 pounds of toxic cleaning products. Additionally, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has stated that over 150 commonly-found home chemicals have been linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer and psychological abnormalities.
“Recent revelations have made consumers even more concerned about the cleaning products they grew to know and trust” says Robin Levine, President of Eco-Me brand. “This is pushing people to demand 100% natural ingredients in products that will not harm themselves or their families.”
At Eco-Me, natural means only using food-grade ingredients and pure plant essential oils to create our products. Using the same ingredients you would find in your kitchen pantry such as vinegar, olive oil, baking soda plus pure plant essential oils, we ensure all our products are safe to use in your home, on your pets, and for your children.
Our plant-based soaps (made from aloe, coconut and olive oil) and steamed distilled essential oils for high quality aromas have natural antibacterial properties with no synthetics or chemicals, so you feel safe using them.
Eco-Me products are made in the USA using ingredients you can find right in your kitchen pantry, that are provennatural and safe and use pure plant essential oils for healthy and safe fragrance.
