The sedan segment has not been as a buzz with launches and announcements as the hatchback segment but that doesn’t mean that these ‘booted’ beauties are loosing their sheen. There are plenty of sedan lovers in the country who want to own the best of the lot. So, here is a list of the most searched sedans on the internet in the month of February.

This sedan by General Motors is priced between Rs 10.99 – 12.45 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) has been developed by global designers and engineers of General Motors. Chevrolet Cruze comes with a 2.0L litre diesel engine and was recently fitted with a six-speed automatic gear box. The automatic gearbox has aided acceleration, which is much more effortlessly with the extra kick being diverted. Cruze is a good sprinter and revs well. The Cruze auto gives about 9.5kpl in city that is about 1kpl less than the manual version of the car and 15kpl on highway. Cruze auto is priced Rs 84,000 more than the manual version and is for those who really want an automatic around.
Maruti Swift Dzire
The Swift Dzire was recently fitted with a very responsive and next generation K-series engine to meet Bharat IV norms. The car is built on a newly developed platform with three and a five door models to offer. The car has a torsion beam rear suspension and comes fitted with necessary modern safety systems such as electronic brake force distribution and brake assist. Front airbags, optional side and curtain airbags and optional keyless ignition are some of the other features available with in a Swift Dzire. The car is priced between Rs 4,78,781 – 6,93,602.
Honda City
Honda City has been a popular sedan for quite some time. Its aerodynamic looks, arrow-shot form of design and the front grill of the car make it appealing. The car’s interiors are spacious and very stylishly done. The Honda City comes with a 1.5L, 1497cc, i-VTEC engine with four cylinders and 16 valves with the 5-speed automatic transmission. The engine can produce 118PS power at 6600 rpm and 146Nm torque at 4800 rpm. The car has front disc breaks and rear drum brakes. Honda has priced city between Rs 8,09,000 – 9,73,000.
Fiat Linea
This all new sedan by Fiat comes with a 1.4L, 1368cc, Fire petrol engine that produces 90bhp power at 6000rpm and 115Nm torque at 4500rpm with a mileage of 12-16kmpl. The 1.3L, 1248cc Multijet diesel engine produces 85bhp at 4000rpm and torque of 203Nm at 2500rpm with a mileage of 14-19kmpl. Fiat Linea comes with an array of safety options such as airbags, ABS along with EBD, ESP, ASR system that makes the vehicle easy to drive, the MSR, Hillholder-HBA etc and is priced between Rs 6,34,526 – 8,59,421. One significant safety feature is the inertia switch FPS (Fire Protection System) that prevents the car from flow of fuel in engine at the time of strokes.
Tata Manza
Tata Manza is the sibling of its successful Tata Indigo compact entry level notchback. The car’s 1.4L, 1396cc MPFI petrol engine produces 85PS power and the 1.3L, 1248cc, Multijet diesel engine produces 76PS power at 4000rpm.
Tata Manza comes with a centrally mounted MID (Multi Information Display) available in the higher end vehicles. The car also has ABS (Antilock Braking System) and airbags to enhance safety. The car is competitively priced between Rs 5.5 – 7 lakh to compete with other sedans of this segment.
Ford Fiesta
The American carmaker provides both petrol and diesel engine option for Fiesta. The 1.6L, 1596cc, Duratec petrol engine generates 101bhp power at 6500rpm and 14.9kgm torque at 3400rpm. The 1.4L, 1399cc, Duratorq TDCi diesel engine with five speed manual gear-box produces 68PS power at 4000rpm and 163kgm torque at 2000rpm. The petrol variant provides 11kmpl in the city and 15.3kmpl mileage on highways. While the diesel variant gives a 14.9kmpl in city and 17.8kmpl mileage on highway. The car is priced between Rs 6,13,000 – Rs 8,07,000.
Maruti SX4
The new Maruti SX4 comes with a new generation BS IV compliant petrol engine and the car also comes with an automatic transmission gearbox option. Maruti SX4’s honey-comb front grille, dual tone beige dash board, 10-spoke stylish light weight alloy wheels, and wooden finish panels lend it a very upmarket look. The exteriors are the same and the Maruti SX4 is priced in the Rs 6.68 – Rs 8.35 lakh range.
