Things didn't always go easily however we recovered well and continued to provide a competitive secure car parking service to passengers at London Luton Airport. Recurring fliers would have seen some improvements to Airport Car Parkz Park and Ride service. The ageing Transit mini buses were replaced by a fleet of 17 seater Mercedes Benz 811 vehicles that provide a more comfortable relocation to and from the Luton Airport terminal. New traffic-easing layouts around the terminal and its approaches have made it feasible for us to provide a more sensible transfer schedule. Early travellers will recollect the traffic chaos some mornings and succeeding delays brought on by entering and exiting vehicles crossing over at the terminal roundabout. Airport planners came up with a solution that sends all traffic around the parimeter of the short term car park which has improved the flow in that area at least. The latest designated Meet and Greet area was also provided although it has proved being confusing for some fliers and annoying for one or two others. Even so our courtesy transfer busses still run 24 hours a day at 10-15 minute intervals. In busy periods, if all the waiting passengers are unable get on one bus they will not normally be kept waiting more than 15 minutes. Drivers are conscious of their turnaround times and will try to accommodate passengers even when some are particularly bullish or try to skip queues. Despite this fortunately rare stampede mentality, which has been hard for our bus drivers to manage previously, it remains to be a good service that pulls favourable remarks from various fliers. Recent fliers will have witnessed further enhancements to the safe car parking area. They will have recognized new parimeter fencing and a security barrier to make sure better control of vehicles entering or leaving the secure area. New security cameras give round-the-clock surveillance of all activity in the car park and will log the registration numbers of all vehicles.
