There is a wide variety of Monarch label guns on the market today, and an even wider variety of labels made for these devices. Those looking to replace their older Monarch Paxar labelers should be aware that the company is now owned by Avery-Dennison, fortunately the products remain as reliable as ever. There are four basic types of Monarch label guns, and several models of each type. The biggest differences between models are the number of printable positions, and the amount of labels each gun can print before reloading.

Simple One-Line Label Guns

The simplest pricing guns print on a single line. The most basic Monarch Paxar label gun is the Model 1110, which offers six standard print positions. The Model 1110 allows the user to choose numbers, currency signs, and other standard pricing symbols. Some Model 1110 label guns can be customized with up to eight positions. This is one of the lightest labelers available, at 270g when loaded with a fresh roll of 1063 labels. The Monarch Model 1130 label gun prints in six positions like the Model 1110, but holds a larger roll of labels and more ink. The similar Model 1131 label gun also holds a roll of 2,500 labels, but offers eight printing positions. Both of these labelers are much heavier than the Model 1110, at over 400g each.

Two-Lines, More Information

There are five different Monarch Label Guns capable of printing two lines of information. These tend to be heavier than the one-line models, but allow more information per line. Models 1136 and 1115 print two lines with eight positions each, Model 1135 prints two lines with six positions, 1142 prints ten, and Model 1155 offers the greatest number of positions with twelve per line. The Monarch 1135 is the lightest of the two-line labelers, while the 1155 prints on the largest labels and offers the most printing options.

Three-Line Labelers and Special Labels

There are only two Monarch labelers capable of printing three lines of information on a single label. Model 1153 is very similar to the 1155 two-line label gun but offers three lines of print with twelve positions. Monarch Model 1158 is specifically designed to print on special two-layer labels. These are intended to be peeled off at purchase and can then be stuck in an inventory book for easy record-keeping.

Eye-Catching Promotional Tags

Avery-Dennison offers five different Monarch labelers capable of printing on large tags intended to draw attention to sales and special pricing. While the rest of the product line only prints characters up to 5mm in height, these pricing guns print characters up to 8mm in bold fonts. Model 1138 prints five positions on colorful tags in unusual shapes, Model 1156 is very similar but instead offers seven printing positions. The Monarch 1151 and 1152 each print on very large tags in up to 12 positions. Monarch Sure-Sell labelers prints a selection of attention-grabbing words instead of numbers, and Model 1159 is designed to use pre-printed labels.
