"MAT, Management aptitude test forms the initial step in climbing the ladder of management as a career. This particular test is conducted in India as an entrance exam to look for admission in recognized management colleges of India. However, the MAT Preparation necessitates an elegant and well planned approach. The aspirant must be enthusiastic enough and accordingly design the strategy as to where to hit the maximum and which section to leave. The Following Point Should be kept in Mind While preparing for MAT.
1) The candidate should have the widespread business knowledge which can be acquired by reading good business magazines, evaluation on current issues, economic, etc.
2) NCERT mathematics books can be referred for quantitative aptitude section.
3) Emphasize on English as much as you can.
4) Work to build strong vocabulary ,
5) Examine newspaper daily.
The candidate needs to have a fine study material or otherwise one can join any preparation course. A good Preparation course helps and direct the candidate in several ways. Sample test and mock test papers also come along with study packages. One get good support from the course guider and tutor. MAT Exam structure consists of 200 questions spread across five sections. Speed with accuracy is the crucial requirement to crack the MAT exam. The exam is held four times a year i.e. in January, May, September and December. The candidate can opt for the exam in accordance to his choice. Any graduate from a known university or appearing in final year can apply for MAT i.e. Management Aptitude Test. MAT serves as a gateway for pursuing Full time or Part time mba programs from top mba colleges . One needs work hard while preparing for MAT. MAT is conducted by Centre for Management Services; a specialized division of AIMA (All India Management Association).
MAT SYLLABUS
The syllabus mainly includes five sections:
1. Language Comprehension 2. Intelligence & Critical Reasoning 3. Data Analysis 4. Mathematical Skills 5. Indian & Global Environment Section.
This is objective type test with more than one option available in answers choices Total time allotted for the exam is 150 minutes with each section having 40 questions. Candidate has to take utmost care as there is negative marking in the test.
The structure and paper pattern is intended to judge the applicant aptitude and decision making abilities. This objective type written test is followed by group discussions and then a personal interview. The overall performance forms the MAT score on the basis of which admissions are taken.
