If you want an affordable way to increase awareness of your product, then brochures are a good idea. Most of the time, a three-fold brochure is the choice because of its form and function. A three-fold brochure usually contains information that can fit in a short sized bond paper but since it is folded, you can display it nicely on the reception counter with or without a stand. You can create your own three-fold brochure if you need it for a community event, a PTA project, or a local volunteer’s organization’s bake sale. You do not need advanced graphics design knowledge, but a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word will do. Here is a step by step instruction on how to create your own three-fold brochure using the most common document program in the world. And then you can easily print it out with your own inkjet or colored laser printer. Now, brochure printing can be at its best at your fingertips.
1. When you open Microsoft Word, you will see a selection on what to do. Select "New Document" and then choose "Brochures." From there, you will be able to see different brochure templates. If you want to make your basic three-fold brochure, click on "Business brochure",which has a paper size of a short bond paper or 8 1/2 x 11-inch. You can simply follow instructions that come with the template, such as setting columns, margins, and paragraph styles and replacing texts. Just highlight the text boxes where you want your text to be and replace the default text with your own.
2. Insert your custom images.Click on the default photo of your template and then hit “Insert”. Then choose “Picture” and browse the photo that you intend to insert from the choices in your hard drive. The photo of your choice will then be immediately inserted in your template. Repeat the process until all your required photos are in place. Don’t forget to save your file after a couple of additions, just in case a problem happens. This way, you will not have to re-do all the work that you have already done.
3. After putting in all your text and photos, make sure that you proofread your brochure before printing out multiple copies. It would be good to print one copy in draft printing mode because it is easier to spot mistakes on paper than on the monitor. Mark off the mistakes or the changes that you want made and carry them out on your brochure. If you wish, print another draft and read it again to make sure that it is free from mistakes. Or let a colleague read it for you and ask for recommendations.
Once all the corrections are carried out, you can now start printing multiple brochures. A good thing about making your own is that, you can just print as few as 10 copies and you can just add more as you need them. It may not be professionally made, but your brochures will accomplish the purpose of letting people know about your event, product, or cause. It can work hand in hand with a poster because as they learn the headline from a poster, they will get the details from the brochure. Sounds easy, huh? So the next time that you need brochures, you can already do your own brochure printing from your own home and save a lot of money.
