The stem glasses you purchase, are normally used for dinner, whether formal or otherwise, or for casual get togethers; and even sometimes, for your own use. Nothing is as relaxing as sipping a glass of your favorite wine while unwinding after a hard and grueling day at work.
The stem glasses you purchase, are normally used for dinner, whether formal or otherwise, or for casual get togethers; and even sometimes, for your own use. Nothing is as relaxing as sipping a glass of your favorite wine while unwinding after a hard and grueling day at work.

Have you ever thought of lending a unique touch to your existing stem glasses with fancy decorative items? You can further beautify your long stemmed wine glasses with beads made from Swarovski crystals. This would make your table presentation really elegant and posh. Swarovski crystal beads of many colors and shapes, albeit a little expensive, are widely available from online bead manufacyures/ suppliers, and can also be obtained from your local craft stores. The larger crystal beads are not recommended though, as they may result in undignified protuberances, making it difficult and awkward to maneuver your wine glass.

Here is a list of what you will require to start decorating your wine stem glasses.

- Swarovski crystal beads of one or multiple colors (for a Bohemian look, get multi-colored ones)
- Glue for jewelry
- Paper clips
- Seed Beads
- Scissors
- 1 coil of malleable monofilament line
- Transparent thread

To start, you must first spread out the malleable monofilament line into a 12 inch segment. Remember not to do any cutting yet.

Using a piece of transparent thread, string the crystal bead on the last part of the monofilament line and secure with a strong knot just on top of the seed bead whilst leaving a tail of about 2 inches from the monofilament line. The crystals your purchase would normally have holes drilled right on top.

Here comes the part that would require steady hands. Gently but firmly, clasp the crystal bead on the base of your wine stem glass. When this is done, proceed to sever the line at the stem's pinnacle.

Proceed to string the Swarovski crystal beads right unto the open end of the monofilament to the crystal bead. The initial beads should go well over the beading tress and the end part of the monofilament line. If you are doing this right, then the tail will ebb into the beads. At the end of the tress, allow a 2 inch opening and secure it with a paper clip.

Secure the beads against the base of the wine stem glass and proceed to drape the beaded tress all around it. The beads should fit comfortably against one another by this point. If your beaded tress is too long to fit the span of your stem glass, discard what is necessary so you can start continuing on the bowl. Which ever way you choose to embellish your stem glass, remember to leave a 2 inch tail.

Now, adjoin a seed bead to the open end of the beaded tress and secure with a strong knot in the strand. String the tail all about the seed bead and put it back into the Swarovski beads along the final part of the tress.

Swathe some jeweler's glue on the wine glass and drape the beaded tress all around the stem whilst compressing the Swarovski crystals into the adhesive.

You now have your very own, uniquely designed stem glasses.
