The Managing Director and Vice President of Mahindra & Mahindra, Mr. Anand Mahindra, is said to be using the social media like Facebook and Twitter to keep the users and followers, notified with the latest information on the upcoming launch of their SUV. To keep up with the social bonding, Mahindra & Mahindra has also come up with a contest that has four questions based on the new SUV to be answered by the participants. The winners of the contest will be qualified to win a brand new Mahindra XUV 500 SUV. Another tempting and striking prize of the contest includes free tickets for the 2011 Indian Grand Prix.

There is a major possibility that The Mahindra XUV 500 SUV will be launched in both India and South Africa at the same time. The Indian auto brand, Mahindra and Mahindra also foresees exporting the SUV to other emerging markets in the near future as well. The Mahindra XUV 500 is believed to come along with the Scorpio’s 2.2 L common rail turbo diesel engine, only slightly transformed to be a better performer in order to give out a peak power output of 40 Bhp and 320 Nm peak torque. The Mahindra XUV 500 SUV is expected to be offered in both the two-wheel drive and the four-wheel drive options with both the 5-speed or six-speed manual gearbox options on the board.
