Screenshots
Screenshots prove very handy sometimes. It's just an image of your computer screen that you can use for various purposes such as sending the file via e-mail etc. To take a screenshot of the entire screen, press Command + Shift + 3. To take a partial screenshot, press Command + Shift + 4. To save an image of the entire screen press Command + Shift + Control + 3. To save an image of the partial screen, press Command + Shift + Control + 4.
Deleting stubborn files
Sometimes the Mac trash does not delete the files that are in use. However, in Leopard you can do it by holding down the Option button while clicking "Empty Trash". In Snow Leopard, you can do so by holding down the Command button that will change "Empty Trash" to "Securely Empty Trash"
Startup applications
If your operating system has too many startup applications, it takes lot of time to boot. In Mac you can deal with these files by going to System Preferences and then accounts under the Login Tab. To delete the applications from the startup list just remove the minus (-) button.
Merging Safari Windows
While surfing, if you have opened too many windows at a same time, it gets confusing at times. You can merger all these opened windows by selecting Windows menu and then selecting Merge all Windows.
Browse through tabs
To save mouse clicks while browsing through the opened tabs, you can press Command + Shift + Left/Right arrows.
Save a bookmark anywhere
In Safari, you can save the URL/Bookmark anywhere. For example you want to save particular bookmark on your desktop, Press and hole the Favicon button of the URL and drag it to the desktop.
Saving a webpage for offline access
Found an interesting webpage that you would like to read later without connecting to a net? You can save it as a PDF to read it later. To save the webpage as a PDF, press Command + P and click the PDF button. Save the file.
Remembering if you have saved a file
To help you remember you have saved a file while working, the red Quit button has a dot in the middle if there is any unsaved work.
Sending a webpage via email
If you want to share an interesting webpage with your friends and colleagues, you can do that in Safari by pressing Command + Shift + I to compose an email containing the URL of the page you're currently browsing. You can also mail the entire webpage by pressing Command + I.
Creating ZIP files
In Mac, you do not need an additional software to zip the files. Just select the files you want to compress and then then right click and select "Compress X items".
