LDL is found in animal and dairy products such as beef and eggs. Statistics indicate that the society today prefer eating takeouts rather than cooking nutritious meals at home. This is one of the reasons why obesity and high body cholesterol is a menace.
Sources of HDL include all plant foods. Plant foods can be categorized into vegetables, fruits, seeds, grains, nuts and legumes. Examples of vegetables that lower body cholesterol include plantains, pumpkins, kales, spinach, carrots, asparagus and broccoli.
Fruits are very many and making sure that they form a big part of your daily consumption is important. Amongst many others fruits include mangoes, apples, oranges pineapples, grapes and watermelons.
Seeds and nuts contain a lot of natural oils. These oils are unsaturated fatty acids that are essential to the body unlike the saturated fats found in meat. Incorporating nuts such as ground nuts and walnuts in your diet plan everyday will ensure good body health and lower cholesterol.
Most legumes contain a lot of protein. They are best eaten with grains in order to eat whole protein diets. Examples include beans and peas. Some grains such as whole rice contain both carbohydrates and essential oils and should be eaten regularly.
Fish are normally very oily. However, their oil is considered to be beneficial to our health. Fish oil is unsaturated and so when consumed helps to flush out saturated fats within the blood stream Seafood should also be eaten, but moderately to avoid poisoning.
Remember to include a lot of roughage in your diet. Instead of extracting juices from your fruits, try eating them whole as these have a lot of roughage. Roughage binds cholesterol in the stomach and it’s extracted as waste. Drink a lot of water and fluids everyday to aid in digestion as well.
