Nokia unveils the Nokia 500 - the first 1GHz Symbian Anna phone
It seems that Nokia is making a drastic turnaround in evolving the Symbian platform by introducing the first 1GHz Symbian Anna phone - the Nokia 500, which was earlier known as the “Nokia Fate”. With due credit to Nokia's price cutting strategy, the Nokia 500 gets the title - “low-cost, full-function smartphone” at an MSRP of 150 Euros , excluding taxes. The smartphone is expected to hit the retail shelves by the end of the third quarter this year and will be available in a complete glossy black body accompanied by six differently coloured interchangeable back panels. A white version of the phone is expected in the fourth quarter.
The Nokia 500 comes with physically identical features as that of Nokia C5-03 and the X6, with the exception of the powerful 1GHz processor. The other key hardware specifications of the smartphone include: 256MB of RAM, a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen running at 640x360 pixels resolution, a 5MP camera, 3.5mm audio jack, stereo FM radio, microUSB port, 2GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot expandable up to 32GB. The connectivity options include: Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR, 3G (14.4Mbps HSDPA and 5Mbps HSUPA), and GPS with A-GPS support. The Nokia 500 is expected to be as lightweight as the Nokia C5-03, at just 93 grams.
The Nokia 500 comes with a rich set of bundled apps including Shazam, Swype text input, free turn by turn voice navigation software with Ovi maps for 80 countries and native Twitter & Facebook integration with the social hub.
Nokia 700 Series Revealed in Sleek and Trendy Outfit
In the recent past, Nokia has been trying to evolve its rugged smartphone designs into something sleeker and trendier, in order to keep up with the changing market trends and consumer needs. Apparently, a few leaked photos of the attractive Nokia 700, 600, and 500 series are currently doing the rounds on the web. The 700 Zeta, 701 Helen, 600 Cindy, 500 Fate have been spotted in the wild along with their spec sheets and images, and among them, the Zeta seems to be the replacement for the Nokia C6-01.
The leaked pictures show the Nokia 700 Zeta to be running on the yet to be released Symbian Belle platform - the Anna's successor and armed with a 5MP camera, LED flash & NFC support. The reports further indicate that it will come with a 1GHz CPU, pack a 3.2-inch nHD AMOLED display, weigh a little over 80grams, and measure around 10mm in thickness – which does not really justify its claim of being the thinnest smartphone in the world.
The leaked spec sheets have revealed three more Symbian offerings in the name of 701 Helen, 600 Cindy and 500 Fate, wherein the 701 Helen appears to have more desirable specs than others with an 8MP camera and a 3.5-inch ClearBlack display. The 600 Cindy comes with a downscaled 5MP camera, a 3.2-inch AMOLED display and NFC support. Meanwhile, the 500 Fate is apparently the leaked smartphone better known as the N5, which has a body design identical to the 5800 / X6 school of design and it is based on the revamped Anna OS.
