Fresh live lobster needs prompt and perfect care on their arrival to the market. They must be refrigerated as soon as they arrive. This is because the lobsters start decaying at a rapid pace if they are exposed to warm ambiance even for a short period.
In general, the fresh live lobster is caught in bulk during low tides. Once they are stranded, they try to take resort under rocks as these places are cold and wet and therefore perfect for their survival. So, if the same condition is created artificially, the lobsters will be fresh and fine. Though the live lobster is loved by all and sundry but unfortunately a very few know how to handle it. It is really easy should you take meticulous care and follow some simple guidelines.
Handle the cartons containing the live lobsters in a very gentle fashion. The cartons must not be dropped or dumped, crushed or crumpled, thrown or thrashed for the perfect well-being of the lobsters. When it comes to unpacking the live lobster, choose a damp area. Check the unpacked lobsters. There are some symptoms that will easily make you differentiate between the fit and weak ones. The frail ones have droopy tails and claws. While repacking, curl the tails to fit them into the box but never stuff too many of them into a single container. Make sure to place a cover on the container and then put it in the refrigerator. While purchasing the live lobster, check the tails. Is it crumpled or does it reek of an ammonia odor? If it is, then the lobster is dead. So, no need to spend your hard-earned money on a dead lobster as you find several live ones in the market. For the seafood buffs, there are so many delicacies to whip up. Take the case of clams. They are mineral-rich and therefore healthy for us just like any other seafood. Though the clam is not as costly as the live lobster but great in taste and this fact is well-known to the food lovers.
