In the present day context the strip club have become quite popular and the fact is that though the tradition of strip dancing have mostly become renowned during the late 19th century but the original concept of strip dancing and strip clubs dates back earlier on. However, in other terms the strip clubs are also called as the gentlemen’s club. In fact the point is that the term gentlemen’s club is generally used in the United States as an euphemism for strip club.
However, it is a notable fact that though there are some contradictions in the original history of the strip clubs but it is quite evident a fact that the 19th century brought in a real big explosion in the popularity of the strip clubs. More precisely around the decades of the 1880s the popularity of the strip clubs first reached it height. In fact in those days there were about over 400 such establishments alone in London. However, with the each extensions of the franchise in the Reform Acts of 1832, 1867, and 1885 corresponded with a further expansion of the clubs and did a further extension of the franchise in 1918.
The increasing number of these gentlemen’s club were characterized by the list of their members and their interest in fields like literature, politics, sport, art, automobiles, travel, or some other pursuit. However, the growth of the clubs provided a strong indicator as to what was considered at that time to be a respectable part of the establishment. However, by the late 19th century the popularity of these clubs grew so high that any person with a credible claim to the status of a gentleman was able to find a club willing to get them admitted. However, unless the character of the person is considered to be objectionable can get admission to any of these clubs. Also in some cases it had been noted that most people who closely correspond with the trade or social/political identity used to belong in the same club.
Here goes the tradition on the European part, coming to the American history of the strip clubs, these started in the traveling carnivals and burlesque theatres, which featured mostly the famous strippers. However, during the legal ruling of 1937 the burlesque theatres were prohibited from having striptease performances. However, the wide spread bans of the striptease performances lead to the creation of the strip clubs where the exotic dancers performed their shows. This gradually have developed into the modern day strip clubs. However, some of the bans still exists and enforced now mostly at the local municipal level. The American style strip dancing and striptease began to appear outside North America in the post second world war era which now is practiced widely around the world these days. In fact the popularity of the strip dancing these days have provided a good deal of encouragement for several girls to take this passion as their profession. Besides that these days the most famous strip clubs also organize wide scale competitions for striptease performance in which the best girls are selected for their extraordinary performance.
