As we go into our summer season here, Leon Levy, CEO of Klingshield Window Film Company, Johannesburg, urges parents not to leave children unattended in a vehicle whilst busy doing errands. This is very risky practice and we have seen in the media how kids have suffered from overheating.
Once again it has been highlighted in a report in the Daily Mail in the UK in July of another incident of this nature. The temperature was 20c degrees outside when a parent left their child in the car and went to do some shopping.
The parent received a 12 month sentence from a magistrate for this reckless action to set a precedent to other parents in order to stop this practice. The court considered this a very serious offence.
Chris Cloke, head of the Child Protection Department in the UK said “one should never leave an unattended child in a car especially on a hot day and I am pleased to see this action taken by the courts".
Sun control window film applied to car windows will reduce the amount of heat coming into the car and can be a benefit for parents transporting children in vehicles. The Klingshield sun control film also reduces the amount of glare shining in the children's eyes making the ride more comfortable. Klingshield window film applied to all glass areas turns the car glass into shatterproof glass making it safe should the vehicle be involved in an accident or attacked by rioters, such as has been seen in London recently.
This is a wakeup call to all parents to take note and install sun control window film on their car windows.
