If you can beat stress you will lead a longer life that is much fruitful and productive. So how do you go about doing it other than eliminating stress inducing substances like cigarettes, coffee and alcohol from our lives? The following are some simple life lessons that can help you change your attitude towards life and help you eliminate stress from it all together.

The buzzword for the 21st century is multitasking. We text while we drive, catch up with friends while we travel and we watch three different TV programs while we eat our dinner. If you really want to reduce stress pick and choose your tasks. Do them one at a time and do them well. If you concentrate on every single task until you finish them to your satisfaction you will not make careless mistakes, neither will you deliver below par work that will be handed back to you with things that you need to do over. This in itself will reduce the time you spend completing the task and reduce stress levels.
Forget about how well your neighbor is doing. If you can forget about whether your neighbor, colleague, acquaintance is driving a better car, living in a better house or making a better salary you will free up all that time in living your life better and doing your job more successfully. This in itself will enable you to perform better and maybe raise your status to the one that you previously envied in a friend. Healthy competition leads to evolution and crazy envy just leads to stress and worsening health. You don’t have to be richer, sexier and smarter. What you need to be instead is calm and in control. By removing yourself from the race you will become the object of envy yourself. Foolish materialism is the root of all stress, when you rid yourself of it you start appreciating the better things in life like the love of family and the companionship of friends so stress levels go down and you start feeling better without medicine.
To eliminate stress also stop setting yourself irrational and impossible to achieve timeframes and deadlines. Life has a way of unwinding the way it will, there is little we can do to actually change the way it unfolds. You will not get married in two years if you don’t find a person you love can love enough. You will not be able to buy a better car if you don’t get the raise at work. See your stress levels recede when you start living in a realistic timeframe.
