Part 1 Sound Files: Solo Part 1 - Normal | Solo Part 1 - Slow
For this guitar solo we are only going be using two fingers, our 1st and 3rd (see the hand above). We are simply going to descend down the penatonic scale, across three strings and then, in section two, will ascend with a second descend. Let's break down how to do part 1.
Part 1 - Step by Step
1. First pre-place your 1st Finger on the 12th fret of the second string (do not pick it yet).
2. Now, place your 3rd finger on the 15th fret of the second string, now pick string.
3. Simply lift your 3rd finger and pick the string again as your 1st finger should already be on the 12th fret.
During step 3 your 3rd finger should move to hover above the 14th fret of the third string. In other words it should be in position to play the next note but it should not be pressing down on the string.
4. Press down on the 14th fret of string three and play. Immediately after picking the 14th fret, your 1st finger should release fret 12 of the second string and press down on the 12th fret of third string.
5. Release your 3rd finger and pick the string, as the 1st finger should now be in place on fret 12.
6. Just like step 3, your 3rd finger should be ready to play the next note; press down and play the 14th fret of string four.
7. Your 1st finger should still be at the 12th fret of the third string, press down and play the 12th fret of string three.
