Bank jobs exams are in Demand owing to many facts including high level of security (A must to have in these turbulent times) and satisfaction. Also there have been several salary hikes in all public sector banks recently adding to the reasons for recent inflation in competition in bank exams.
Another reason for this increase is rise in number of vacancies due to so many people retiring from public sector banks services recently. This has increased the competition in these exams by many folds. Thus banks are now facing lot of issues in managing the whole process including issuing of advertisement, organizing the written phase and most importantly correctly checking the exam answer sheets. Further challenges involve organizing Interview phase which is comparatively less problematic than the written phase.
Thus government has taken step in this direction to simplify the process for both banks and the candidates. The solution is evolution of common bank exam IBPS CWE (Common Written examination). This exam is to be conducted twice an Year By IBPS (Institute of banking personnel selection), Once for PO/Specialist Officers’ and once for Clerical Cadre.
This exam is surely going to make life easy for bank and for candidates. Elaborating that, banks now do not have to perform the tedious task of managing the written phase while candidates now do not have to wait for so long to know results as banks take long time to process the results. But now the banks will only have to manage the written phase as the written will be taken care of by IBPS.
Candidates will need to score well in this written exam to get a good score in their scorecard (Issued by IBPS to every participant). If the score is good enough, candidate will be getting Interview calls from participating public sector banks for one year. The card will be valid for one year giving the candidate good amount of chances over the period of one year for scoring good in Common written exam.
Thus bank exams are now getting changed to simplify process for everyone involved. The result of this new trend is yet to be seen but it is sure to be positive for everyone.
