Groupon teamed up with locals to enter India and China, Google bought a local deal detector to capitalize on technical wonkiness, kgbdeals took over duo local sites to embolden its footprints and extend daily deals in Los Angeles and Washington, and list is being added with new gulpers.
The last of all mentioned New York-based kgbdeals has been a point of discourse of industrial mavens because of the raving speed the daily deal site is moving on to spread deal of the day beyond 100 cities plus in US and Europe it operates in.
Three acquisitions by it in a row bear out a fact that discount market holds a promising future. Investors find it profitable to risk their money in the industry.
Last reported transaction was buyout of LA’s SocialBuy and Washington D.C.’s DC Girls in the Know. In April, the company had reached a deal with WTD.
“In the past month alone, we’ve begun reaching more customers and honing our expertise in three significant ways: launching our shopping and travel channels, partnering with Google Offers and acquiring TheDealist,” said Patrick Albus, CEO, kgbdeals USA in a press statement.
For last 20 years, the company is in the business of proffering best deals to its growing customer base. It claimed to have served more than 100 million consumers worldwide last year. It is also proud of introducing ‘successful brand in telecommunications, customer care,’ etc.
Google Offers, powered by the world’s leading internet search engine Google, planned to cook hot deals independently for consumers, but later hammered out a solution to undertake deal making and aggregation services at the same time.
Immediately after having been had eggs on its face from Groupon, its acquiring of DealMap improved its skills and capacities of reaching to broader audience. The world’s daily deal giant Groupon spurned the multibillions dollars buyout proposal from Google.
That also prompted the search engine to pour in funds in world’s No. 2 LivingSocial to sharpen its incising teeth for the daily deal battle.
Pioneering is the name of the game
Reshuffling or reorganization has generally slowed down barring attention grabbing blurbs as discussed above. However, the process will restart sooner or later until the structure of daily deal industry finally fixes on its slot. The daily deal industry is at the evolutionary stage. Every player, it looks, is in the struggle of making a mark.
Anecdotal evidences have proved that blooming industry has to undergo a series of restructuring attempts from internal forces or outside prior to reach mellowness.
Consumer finance in many of the developing economies is still basking for space to grow up. In contrast, here in this part of the world a raft of tailor-made consumer financial products has been surfaced. Former is witnessing intense M&A activities.
