Along with most modern, new things today kitchen appliances have had vast improvementsmade to them, especially in new refrigerator-freezer units. Today’s models from Maytag, Westinghouse, GE and others have higher operating efficiency, smart cooling systems, more water-ice options and larger storage capacity. But all those great new features also come with a much higher price tag, sometimes upwards of $2,000 and higher.
If you’re in the market for a new refrigerator, look for refrigerators that exceed minimum standards. These models usually run more efficiently and provide the homeowner with better long-term savings on monthly utility bills. In fact, the additional cost you may pay for an energy efficient one is often paid off many times over by the energy savings.
If you’re a homeowner that has a decent working refrigerator, but one that needs repair because of age or frequency of use, you might consider seeking out appliance parts for refrigerators. All of today’s appliances eventually need repair, and there are parts out there for all kinds of refrigerator models.
It helps to know how a refrigerator works, to better understand the parts you might need as your refrigerator ages and becomes less efficient over time. Two basic laws of physics still apply to the use of today’s modern refrigerator – one, that heat flows from warmer material to cooler materials and never the reverse; two, that decreasing the pressure of a gas also decreases its temperature.
Knowing this principle helps explain how refrigerators do the cooling work they do. Refrigerators work by removing the warmth from the air in their interior compartments and moving that heat to the air outside. The coolant (freon) accomplishes this transfer. The freon draws heat from the air within the refrigerator, and then having absorbed this heat, the freon is then routed to the condenser, and eventually back again via the set of copper coils in the back of the refrigerator.
This process keeps your food cool while drawing excess heat out the coils. Once in a while, this process can break down. It might be layers of dust on the back coils that affect the airflow, and hinder the operating efficiency of the refrigerator unit. A well-oiled, efficiently kept refrigerator *should* last 10, 15 even 20 years in some instances.
But if you need appliance parts for refrigerators and freezers, do your research and find out the main problem. Is a worn or torn seal on your freezer or refrigerator causing the main inefficiency in your coolant system? Is the icemaker broken? While many people enjoy the front of door ice makers, these are often a cause of breakage when you have many children’s hands pushing the ice trigger. For refrigerator parts and accessories, seek out the best appliance parts company in the Southwest, Appliance Parts Company.
