An electric generator is an equipment or device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy as the final output. You must know that a generator doesn't create electrical energy as such but it takes advantage of mechanical energy to force the movement of electric charges present in the wire of its windings.
In the industrial marketplace, generators play a very significant role during the situations of power outage and power discontinuity. Power outage creates massive disruption in business operations and other activities as well. In the market place, these generators are available in diverse electrical and physical configurations and designed deliberately to use in different applications across the industrial and residential domain.

In technical terms, an electric generator is an equipment or device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy as the final output. You must know that a generator doesn't create electrical energy as such but it takes advantage of mechanical energy to force the movement of electric charges present in the wire of its windings. It enforces it through an external electric circuit. This current flow of electric charges then constitutes the output electric current that generator supplies.

Generators that are used in the today's scenario, work on the principle and mechanism of electromagnetic induction. A generator contains a number of components that play a great part in its function individually. A generator includes Engine, Alternator, Fuel System, Voltage Regulator, Cooling and Exhaust System, Lubrication System, Battery Charger, Control Pane and Main Assembly / Frame etc.

Undoubtedly, an engine is the most important part of a generator and is the finest source of the input mechanical energy to the generator. Size of the engine is directly in proportion to the maximum power output that a generator can supply. While having an engine for your generator, one should look forward to a number of things manufacturer of the engine, full engine operation specifications and maintenance schedules offered. An engine is known as good if it falls right on several aspects together. These aspects include compact design, Simpler operation mechanism, Durability, User-friendly in operations, Low noise during operations and Low emission levels etc.

Another component called alternator that produces the electrical output from the mechanical input that engine supplies to it. Alternator contains an assembly of stationary work together to cause relative movement. The relative movement occurs between magnetic and electric fields in order to generate electricity. Fuel tank is another important component of the generator that has enough capacity to run the generator up to 6 to 8 hours in a row. In small generator units, this fuel tank is installed in generator's skid base or on the top of the generator frame as well. Selection of a generator always needs serious considerations and market research to ensure less hassle at the end of purchase.
