Kaziranga park is in the list of world heritage sites and is the hub of two third of the population of one horned rhinos in the world. This wonderful park has been declared as tiger reserve in the year 2006 and is a splendid attraction of many wildlife enthusiasts in the world.

You will interact with the mesmerizing wild in the park and some of them are the swamp deer, wild water buffalo and elephants. This park is also a very important bird area and this reserve is declared as a hub of conservation of wildlife because it is a hotspot of biodiversity in the belt of eastern Himalayas. Kaziranga is a combination of marshland, tropical forests and elephant grass and this park has featured in different songs, books and documentaries. You can see the four principal rivers flowing inside the park and one of them includes the Brahmaputra. In the year 2005, it celebrated 100 years of establishment of the reserve forest.

Wife of Lord Curzon told her husband lord Curzon to take some steps to restore the park from the growth of the dwindling species and in the year 190 8, the park achieved the status of reserve forest. In the year 1916, this park was transformed into game sanctuary. Hunting was prohibited but people could visit the park. The fact remains that it came a long way till it was converted into Kaziranga national park. In the year 1950, this park was transformed into Kaziranga wildlife sanctuary. In the year 19 68, it was designated as the national park by the government of Assam and prior to this, there was a ban on the poaching of rhinoceros with some strict punishment if anyone was found doing the act. Finally, it was officially announced as the world heritage site by the UNESCO. There was a major loss with some manmade and natural calamities like floods and ULFA but the park has not lost its glory as one of the top destination for wildlife. Because of the natural environment that is quite unique, WHS title was conferred on the park in the year 1985.

There are some tales associated with the Kaziranga park. One story says that there was one boy named Kazi who was in love with the girl Ranga. There was not the approval of marriage from the parents and because of this, they disappeared into the forests. Another thing associated with the park is the red goats. Some say it is Kajir gaon as one woman called Kajir ruled the area. Some of the deadly snakes found in the park also include king Cobra and Russell wiper. You have the savanna woodlands and these are diverse as far as the fauna exploration is concerned. Under the Indian law of wildlife protection, you have got the maximum protection for the park. Coming to this park is a splendid experience for the tourist. You have the option for the sizzling wildlife photography and turn out to be environmental photographer.
