When you or someone you love is suffering from drug addiction, you will want to get help from a drug rehab program. As you start looking into treatment programs, you begin to realize that not drug addicts are helped by the first, second, or even third program which they attend. Since drug rehab is expensive, but more importantly, it's vital to keeping a drug addict alive in some cases, choosing program becomes very important. So, what makes some drug treatment programs effective while others are not? There is no clear answer to this question. There are so many different factors to consider that all a person can do is carefully look at all the different treatment options available and try to choose the best one for someone.
Unfortunately the ability of a person to afford drug rehab, or the insurance coverage they have, effects the quality of treatment they receive and how effective the treatment is once they have left the program. There is no doubt that long term drug rehabilitation is more effective than short term treatment, but is is expensive and may not be covered by most insurance companies. While financing is available at most long term treatment center, realistically, this is not an option for many people who cannot take out a long term loan to finance their treatment or a loved ones treatment. There are also those people who need long term drug rehab but cannot afford to take a minimum of 30 days off from their job, let alone the 60 or 90 days recommended for a full recovery.
The length a person's finances enable them to stay in drug rehab is more important than the luxury afforded by a facility. While opulent surroundings in a secluded beachfront drug treatment facility make a person's stay more pleasant, these surroundings do not affect the rate of recovery. There are some people who require the seclusion of a remote, private facility because their livelihood would be endangered if the public or their companies were to find out they needed drug rehab, but these are the people who can usually afford these facilities.
A person who has the financial ability to enter into long term drug rehab without worrying about what is happening to their family financially while they are taking the time they need to recover will have an easier time during this difficult process. This is not to say that anyone who is worried about their families finances while they are in treatment should shorten their stay. Whatever financial difficulties their family is facing while they remain in drug rehabilitation is likely to be far better than the difficulties faced when living with a drug addict.
A person's finances also affect how long they remain drug-free once leaving drug rehab. A person who is drug free but must return to the same neighborhood where drug use is both prevalent and encouraged will have a difficult time remaining drug free. A person who can afford to move to a place where they feel less of a need to use drugs has a better chance of a lasting recovery. Of course, a person with large amounts of discretionary income has the ability to purchase drugs easily after leaving drug rehab.
