Interaction with computer
Interaction with computer is a very basic thing that we encounter after the computer has started and operating system has been loaded. Here I am going to tell you about levels of interaction that we have and explain them in a little bit detail. The four levels of interaction with a computer are:
1-Command-Line User Interface.
2-Menu-Driven User Interfaces.
3-Prompted User Interfaces.
4-Graphical User Interfaces.
Fisrt is the Command-Line User Interface.A command line user interface is made up of computer commands that we type at computer command prompt. These commands are sometimes made up of simple english words like : dir, rename, edit, help, print etc and each word presents also that what that specific command does.
For example dir command shows directories present in a folder or simply just root directories when the command is typed at root level of command prompt (it then just shows directoried present at root level) or rename command renames a file or edit command can be used to edit a file or print commmand can print a file or may be you can simply type help on command prompt and built in help having all of the command manual appears.
Some other common helpful commands are erase:erase command is used to erase a file or directory, delete:with delete command you can delete a single file or a group of files or a single directory or a group of directories, attribute: with this command you can set the attribute of a file like you say that the attributes of a file can be set to hidden as well as read only (a single attribute can also be set like a file is only has attribute read only).
But some commands are made up of words or a word that has an obvious meaning that what command does, an example of it is the command mkdir, now this command has actually two parts and first part is “mk” which points to the word “make” and the second part is “dir” which points to the word “directory” and thus one can easily understand the meaning of the command like “mkdir” simply means that you can use that command to make a directory. All commands that are given to a computer system at command prompt are usually bundled into one operating system for example DOS that stands for Disk Operating System.
