Indian fashion has truly emerged from the ancient times to the modern times keeping in mind the tradition and customs and the ethnicity. With variety of dresses and fashion in India it is difficult to choose from this huge range. Still the Indian people have emerged and have chosen the lahenga choli the second best dress in traditional wear after sari. Brides have been picking up lehenga cholis as their weeding dress. This is just for the fact that lahega choli and the dress is very easy to carry and is all the way more comfortable. It is the dress of most of the ladies wthether going for wedding or any other party or any get together.
This dress has emerged straight from the homes of the mughals. Indian Lehenga choli has toured a widespread way from the majestic courts of Mughal Empire to a superior dress of Indian women. This dress is the first choice of all the women for any occasions. It is exciting to know about the origin of lehenga choli, which says that it was originally worn by women since Mughal era.
History has witnessed the very little alteration in the way of presenting a lehenga choli.. In fact even today leading manufacturers surely lift regular patterns form the golden Mughal era. The collection still embraces a customary long skirt called the lehenga, the blouse called the choli and the dupatta. The fabrics used to make the lehenga are in fact the same as those used during the supremacy of the great Mughal King, Akbar which are silk and brocade. The dupatta is currently made of silk, linen of chiffon which is a new improvement.
Lehengas are ankle length long pleated skirts seized near the waist. The skirt is graceful, elegant and flares around the wearer. Traditionally, all lehengas were skirt type umbrella shaped. Nowadays, in the fashion market, however, there are diverse shapes of the lehengas giving a new look to the ethnic dress.
The various styles of lehengas are Straight cut lehengas, Fish tail lehengas, Mermaid lehengas, Paneled lehengas, Kali ghagras lehengas, Circular lehengas, A-line lehengas, Lehengas with full flair and so on.
The traditional dress of the historical place Rajasthan and Gujarat is still the ghagra choli. The ancestral women prefer cotton fabrics, decked with embroidery and mirror work. The blouses have detailed mirror-work and patch-work on them and are very vibrant. The royals on the other hand prefers the heavy embroided lehenga choli in brocade,tanchori, and even sometimes with silver and golden brocade with expensive studded jewllery. The length of tribal embroidered lehenga varied between the knees to ankle, while that of richer people was always lengthy enough to touch the floor as they stirred.The women of Gujarat who wore the chaniya choli-a form of lehnga choli- as their daily wear. These lehnga cholis were often in bright colors and embellished with embroidery and other trims like mirrors and beads. Other designs that give an ethnic look to a ghagra choli are kalamkari, mangalgiri, maheshwari, ikat and so on. Hand embroidered ghagra cholis are also traditional.
Traditional dress is worn during the weddings, festivals like Navratri, Eid, Dusshera. dandia, sangeet, mehendi rasam. This traditional dress has its worth during the festival and specially the wedding ceremony. The Indian lehenga choli flamboyantly brings out the essence of feminism.
Indian bridal ghagra cholis are generally made of fabrics like silk, crepe, georgette, satin and all types of handloom fabrics which are available in bright range of colours, designs, thickness and styles.
On the Indian subcontinent, bright colours are the highlights of bridal wear. The rich hues which are used are symbolic of festivity/fertility combined with elegance.. Convenient to wear, easy to manage even if it is very heavy, colour, craft and custom made are some of the plus points that go in favour of this beautiful and gorgeous attire-it are a must in a bride's wardrobe.
The bridal lehenga-cholis with their glittering and shimmering mirror-work look very gorgeous. The blouses have detailed mirror-work and patch-work on them and are very colorful and vibrant. Sequence work and handwork is very much in demand along with beadwork. Designer Indian bridal wear are available in different styles and prices. The beautifully embroidered lehenga choli gives a very classy and urbane look.
