Why do certain businesses succeed when others fall behind their competitors? There are a few, proven strategies that will make maximize profits.
Businesses, all over the world regardless of their size or location, constantly adapt to the changing demands of a changing market in order to maximize profits. Companies scrambling to retain market share often adopt strategies that allow them to stay ahead of their competition. But not all companies adapt successfully, and not all strategies succeed. Why is it that certain strategies tend to maximize productivity?

Many companies lose their profits when there is a discord between management and employees. In such companies, management plans strategies that employees must follow, and the employees half-heartedly work toward those strategies. There is a feeling of “It’s us against those guys.” from both sides. Most employees are not included in the goal setting process. Most employees have their eyes on their paychecks, and aren’t very aware of their own importance in the company’s profitability chart. A company that focuses on its employees and their attitude towards the company, and asks for employee input during strategy building can turn half-heartedness around, and start building high performance teams and, so, maximize profits. It’s also important to ensure that the company’s strategy plan is communicated effectively. A poorly communicated strategy, no matter how effective, is wasted effort. Studies indicate that much efficiency is lost due to poor management communications, and follow through.

Businesses, wanting to improve company performance, need to be mindful of the fact that the employee is the core to the company’s success. Employees who impress customers are rewarded by high levels of customer satisfaction and satisfied customers will refer others to the company. Satisfied customers are loyal, and will return to spend more money for the company’s service or goods.

Employees’ performances will improve when they are a part of the company’s planning process. They see themselves being valued and listened to, and this will improve employee performance and encourage less negative attitudes. They become the drivers of positive change within the company. Employees who have contributed their perspectives and experiences to the change are unlikely to destroy it. An employee performance evaluation must be put into place to reward those employees that will improve employee performance.

Additionally, businesses must review what has not worked in the past, and how to convert these failures into successes. The old adage “Knowledge comes from experience, and experience comes from past mistakes, “holds true here.

Finally, the company must strive to inspire continued improvement by providing incentives, and motivational processes. Creating high performance teams ensures high productivity, strong financial gains, and satisfied customers.
