The capital city of the UK is among the Europe's most popular tourist destinations, with thousands of top quality cheap hotels London-wide, dozens of excellent museums and art galleries, and obviously the amazing history and architecture for which London is so well known, it's a wonderful location to spend a city break, or a longer holiday.

If you're spending your days sightseeing, it can get a touch exhausting, and you could feel the need for a momentary break to recoup your breath.

One option is to go to the British Museum, it's free to go in, but the cafes are expensive. Nonetheless, more or less once a fortnight you can watch a Japanese tea ceremony for no charge in room 92.

Another, extremely cultural, option is a lunch hour classical music performance. London is fantastic for lovers of classical music, but it can get expensive. Nonetheless, there are spots all over the capital (frequently in churches) where you can listen to a quick hour long performance for the price of a small donation.

If you're after the stereotypical British tea and scone, you will have to part with quite a lot in one of London's famous five star hotels. There are, though, several great tea shops that are certainly worth the cost (it's not much) and promise to offer just as good quality. Head for Spitalfields tea room Tea Smith.

For a break on a hot day, you've got to head to Covent Garden for a excellent Italian ice cream and a bit of light entertainment in the shape of Covent Garden's street performers. Or, head for Chalk Farm for a taste of traditional Italian ice-creams from Marine Ices.

Lastly, if you need a sugar fix, then you've got to go to Mrs Kibble's Olde Sweet Shoppe in Soho, famous throughout the capital for selling fantastic treats for brilliant prices.

One of the best things about London is that no matter where you go, you're bound to stumble over a unique place to rest for a minute or regain your energies for a further string of sightseeing, and that's why it's such a great tourist location.
