On occasions, you just can’t drive your car to its new residence. In that case, you need to hire a door to door car transport to get the job done. Once you have chosen a reliable intestate car transport service, make a little preparation to ensure the safety of your car during the transit.

Here are some things you should do before a door to door car transport,

Clean your car thoroughly

When you finally receive the date of shipping, make sure to have your vehicle thoroughly cleaned by that time. Then, look for any existing damages like scratches, dents, discoloration, chipping paint etc. so that you can know whether the car is damaged during the transport.

Remove all your personal items

Cars can get jostled around when they are being transported. This means anything that is inside the car could be shifted too. You can avoid this by taking away any redundant items. It is also best to secure any loose exterior parts or simply remove them so that they don’t get lost or damaged during the transport.

Turn-off the alarm system

The driver would get irritated when your car starts making noise in between the journey. So it is your duty to disable the alarm system before the transportation.

Keep the fuel tank unloaded

As you car is not driven at all, it is recommended to keep the fuel as light as possible.

Do not gas up the fuel tank more than a quarter of its portion. By keeping a full tank, you are not only adding more weight to your car but also increasing the risk of the move.

Lock the doors

As there is no reason to open your car during the transit, keep it locked. However, give a spare key to the driver because he might have to drive your car around when it is being transported.

Check the tire pressure

Over-inflated or under-inflated tires are vulnerable to damage during the loading and unloading of the vehicles. So, check the tire pressure and ensure its safety before transportation.
