First measures like ice pack and anti-bacterial cream or solution should be used. Only after the wound has been treated with basic first aid and is clean you must use heat pack. Heat packs are very useful to relieve muscle tension and heal blood clotting. It also reduces the pain. Ensure that your heat pack is not beyond your bearable limit. It could burn your skin.
