The problem of sending large files is perhaps the biggest dilemma on the Internet. While there are several options each of them come with their own set of problems and it is up to the user to choose one that is the most apt for them. Here are a few options that you can choose from:
SendThisFile: SendThisFile is the most popular of all cloud based sharing services. The best thing about this service is that there’s no limit on the amount of file that can be transferred; even files more than 2GB can be shared. It’s customizable as well. You can customize the folders, add logo, and change colors of the folders to match your brand, and even change the height and width of the folder. You can even set up SMTP to allow email notifications come from your email server instead of SendThisFile. A great feature of the site is that free users can create “FileBoxes” and place it on their website allowing their customers or associates to send them files.
DropBox: Storage space is a huge problem; free users can store only up to 2 GB of data, and paid members will have to shell out $199 (annual subscription) for 100 GB of storage space. However, its advantages include simplicity of use, 99 per cent of up time, automatic backups, file versioning. It is also very secure and uses the latest SSL encryption technology. You can view it from just about any internet connection.
YouSendIt: Although YouSendIt was initially designed to share large data, it now allows cloud storage. It offers a wide variety of storage offerings; you can store unlimited documents, slideshows, photographs etc. Although you cannot schedule backups of existing files on your desktop, the system allows you to sync all files in your account. It’s versatile as well; they provide apps for almost all major smartphones and tablets thereby allowing you to access information from a mobile web browser. The only drawback is its limited file size. You can send files only up to 2GB.
JustCloud: For as less as $10 you can store unlimited data. There’s absolutely no limit on the amount of data that you can store or share. You can sync your files, schedule backups at a specified time and even initiate automatic backups to save any data that is changed. Data transfers occur through SSL encryption and are password protected. You can also restrict the use of shared data. Thus you can decide on who has access to only view data and who can edit the files. The problem with JustCloud is its customer support system that isn’t available via phone.
