The first day of preschool is the biggest milestone and marks the new beginning in your child’s development, especially for toddlers. In the next few months, your toddler will learn new skills, discover new things, make new friends, gain confidence, and be independent.

This early learning Five Dock is the foundation for your child’s success in academics later on. But, no one said it is easy. Yes, the first day of preschool is always stressful and overwhelming for both the children and parents. You and your kid will feel a mix of emotions, including apprehension, excitement, and sadness due to separation. But, with simple routine changes and fun activities, you could prepare your toddler for the first day of child care Five Dock.

Tour the Day Care Five Dock

Visit the child’s preschool and meet the teacher a few days ahead of time. Show your kid the classroom and other places. Let him/her explore the place and talk about what to expect on the first day. Show the place where your child will keep her/his backpack and other things.

Read Books about School

Pick a couple of books about preschool and spend time reading to your kid. The more you read about the preschool, the more your child knows about it.

Explain the Routine of Preschool

Tell your kid about the routine she/he has to follow when they start schooling. Don’t scare them. Instead, tell about the games they will play, kids they will meet, and how you’ll always be there to pick them at the end of the day. However, don’t overhype the school and make promises about things that you can’t control. If your child’s initial experience doesn’t match his/her expectations, it will be stressful for both of you.

Be Positive

Your child tends to learn from you. So, be confident and calm that everything will go well as planned, and your child is in safe hands. Don’t ask your child if she/he is scared of going to school; don’t cry in front of them as you miss him/her. Doing so will make them even more fearful. Tell your kid that you’ll always support them and reassure him that they will be okay, and you’ll be nearby when needed.

Role-Play

Role-play can help your kid prepare for the preschool and know what to expect. Pretend play with the stuffed toys and exchange the roles so that your kids will understand.

A complete and successful transition into preschool takes months. So, have patience with your toddler.
