Making your own, custom Christmas gift box is a great way to make a gift more personal, especially when it's unique and relevant to the person receiving the gift. There are all kinds of ways you can make your Christmas gift box and one of the more popular accessories is to make a paper flower and attach it to the box.
So, how do you go about making a paper flower? Well, that's what this article is for! Let's get started...
Choosing Your Colors
First off, you need to pick out which colors you want to use for the paper flower. Keep in mind that the flower will have a few different layers. How many layers you will actually use is up to you, but there is usually the recommended minimum. You can use paper that is multicolored or you can use normal paper with single colors. You can use different sheets with different colors; just make sure that the colors go well together. Since this will be for your Christmas gift box, you will probably want to use holiday colors.
Cutting out the Shapes
There's a couple of ways you can cut out the shapes: You can use a template cutter that's actually shaped like a flower or you can just use scissors and do it yourself. Either way is fine, but the key here is to make sure that each layer you cut is smaller than the previous one. So, if you use a template, make sure you have different sizes to work with.
Traditionally, the layers for the pedals will be the same color (or similar), and the center will be a unique color. This creates the natural appearance of a real flower.
Once you've finished cutting out the shapes, you can fold them, crumple them or cut them to make them look more realistic. If you prefer to leave them as they are, that's fine too.
Stacking the Shapes
Finally, you'll stack the shapes on top of each other, with the largest one being on the bottom. The center of your flower will go on last. You can choose to glue them together or you can adhere them with double-sided tape. If you're using multiple colors for this paper flower, make sure you rotate the different layers so that each color is showing. You can also put a cool accessory in the center if you want, such as a diamond or a small pendant.
Attach It to Your Christmas Gift Box!
Last, but certainly not least, you have to attach your paper flower to your Christmas gift box! You can do this with a glue dot or anything else that you may prefer. Now your Christmas gift box has some serious appeal!
