Lipoprotein is a combination of lipids and proteins. These are the proteins that move cholesterol within the body in the bloodstream. We have two types of lipoproteins, Low Density Lipoproteins and High Density Lipoproteins.
When you ingest foods with high HDL, fats are digested and eventually transported to the cells in form of monoglycerides where they perform major functions such as cell signaling and forming of cell walls. HDL is essential to the human body and should be taken regularly.
LDL is also absorbed in the body as a simple fatty acid and transported to carry out similar functions as HDL. However, LDL tends to build up in the vascular walls if eaten in excess and this leads to a variety of heart conditions.
Today, everyone is concerned with their cholesterol level and are looking for ways and means of quickly lowering their cholesterol. There also many diets, herbs and medicine being advertised in the media of how to get rid of cholesterol.
Indeed, High body cholesterol is a major health concern than should not be overlooked. In fact, cholesterol testing should be done annually or every two years to ensure that your heart and blood are in good health. The most effective way of lowering body cholesterol is changing your dietary habits.
Poor eating habits cause obesity, high cholesterol and other diseases such as high blood pressure. Eating nutritious diets and ensuring that all food groups are included in your meals is key to better health. Meals should be planned in advance. Ordering takeouts and eating fast food is a poor choice of healthy diets.
You are recommended to have a variety of food types in a meal. Vegetables are types of foods that boost your immunity against diseases. They are low in LDL and can be eaten regularly. Examples include cabbages, kales, cauliflower, asparagus, broccoli, carrots and spinach.
Most plant foods are good for the body. Seeds, nuts, legumes, fruits and grains are all plant foods. They contain polyunsaturated fats that are essential for the body. Some fruits like apples and grapes fight against LDL and should be eaten regularly.
Others like avocadoes and bananas are rich in oils and should be eaten moderately. As you prepare your meals, try to go naturals as possible. Avoid adding spices and generated food chemicals to add taste. Do not use too much oil in your food as most foods have natural oils.
