Both women and men can get yeast infections, but they are more common in women. While it’s common to use over the counter or prescription antifungal drugs to clear up yeast infections, Yeast Infections can be a sign of an internal imbalance.

You may have an overgrowth of Candida albicans yeast cells in your system. So if you get frequent yeast infections, you must treat the problem from the inside out.

If you want to cure a yeast infection and prevent future infections then follow these five steps.

1.Change your Diet: The most important step to take is to begin putting the right foods into your body. Candida yeast thrive because of our modern poor diets high in sugar and refined carbs. Find a good Candida Diet Program and follow it. This will not only kill the overgrowth of yeast in your system but also strengthen your immune system, which is your first line of defense against a Candida yeast infection.

2.Practice Good Hygiene: There are naturally Candida yeast cells living on your skin and in you body but there are things you can do to prevent them from growing out of control.
Change undergarments regularly and wash clothes regularly.
Shower regularly with products that don't dry out your skin washing away good oils.
Women don't use OTC douches as these dry out the vagina and remove helpful bacteria.
Keep your mouth clean, but avoid alcohol based mouth wash as it also kills the helpful mouth flora.

3.Practice Safe Sex: If you're not in a committed relationship it's important to practice safe sex to prevent yeast infections as well as other diseases. Candida yeast Infections can be transmitted during sex. If you are in a committed relationship be sure to make sure your partner is keeping things clean, especially men that are uncircumcised as this makes for a perfect place for yeast to grow.

4.Avoid Antibiotics: Only take antibiotics when absolutely necessary. These kill good bacteria along with the bad and do not kill yeast cells, therefore, if the bacteria die then the yeast has room to grow out of control. If you've been sick for a few days and are getting worse and running a high fever then you may need them, but some people run to the doctor to get an antibiotic with the slightest bit of a sore throat.

5.Get Exercise: This is beneficial for many reasons. Working up a good sweat helps eliminate toxins from the body, stimulates the immune system and relieves stress, which are all important factors in the natural treatment of yeast infections.

You can live free from yeast infections and gain greater overall health by putting into practice the above steps.
