If you see your dog or cat scratching excessively, it means it is time for flea pest control! Fleabites lead to allergic reactions that cause itching. However, it would be a lot better to start your campaign before the fleas have already infested your pet.
There are many ways of controlling a flea infestation without using flea control products. These are:
• Flea Treatment – Various types of flea treatments are available in the market, but to be on the safe side, it is advisable to invest in the best. Flea eggs can lay dormant for almost one year, so more than one treatment would be required. Additional fleas could be killed with ongoing applications.
• Flea Collars – Although not as effective as flea treatments, they are the most cost-effective option. However, ultrasonic collar are no good and may impair your pet’s hearing.
• Flea Shampoo – They too are a temporary solution as they can only kill adult fleas. They are ineffective against the fleas’ eggs, which can cause further infestation.
• Flea Powder – You can use flea powder on your pets at an interval of 3-4 days for flea control. However, these too can kill only adult fleas.
• Natural Fleas – Yeast pills can be used in flea control programs as a means of natural flea control. You can find them in most of the food stores, but they not a cure.
• Flea Monitor/Trap – Another effective way of attracting and then killing fleas is to use homemade flea traps such as a soap water bowl.
• Outdoor Flea Sprays – You can use outdoor flea sprays for preventing a flea infestation in your pet, if it spends a lot of time outdoors.
• Vacuuming – Vacuuming your chairs, couches and carpets after a flea treatment is very important as it helps in preventing further infestation. Even the vibration of the vacuum can kill the remaining fleas in your house.
• Pet Bedding – You must use Cedar chips for your pet’s bedding because it is a flea repellent by nature.
However, in case you need to use certain flea control products, it is better to choose environmentally friendly pest control products. Not only do they help you control and get rid of a pest infestation, they also do not harm our environment. Another, advantage of using such products is that they can be used anywhere and everywhere. In addition, you would not have to exercise any extra caution while using them as they do not use harmful chemical, and hence don’t cause health hazards.
