There is a saying that children do not do things that we want them to do, they do things that we do”. They learn the aggressive behavior by observing others such as parents, siblings and peers. Kids follow their adults so they must have consistent behavior and must do the things what they want to preach them. Aggression can be called personal or psychological injury in the form verbal attacks or physical.
The symptoms of aggressiveness are impulsive, easily irritable, immature and have difficulty in taking frustration. Try to give your child the stable and safe home life with discipline and full time guidance, this will also enable you to stop aggressive behavior form them. Children don’t know the ways of life until they are taught therefore it is one of the important parenting responsibilities. As a parent you should always try to keep your child happy and keeping happy doesn’t mean that every time you have to fulfill their demand.
There is various ways to keep your kids happy and when your child feels encouraged and respected then they are more likely to listen and learn. It is always more effective to positively reinforce desired behaviors and to teach children alternative behaviors rather than just say, “Stop it or else.” Parental practices which are connected with aggressive behavior in children include:
1. Poor supervision
2. Harsh or erratic discipline
3. Parental disharmony
4. Rejection of the child
5. Low involvement in the child's activities
6. Lack of encouragement and reinforcement of polite or considerate behavior in the child, combined with giving attention and reinforcement to the child when he yells or throws a tantrum.
Parents can help kids by teaching them self control and train them how to respond to the situation without getting impulsive. It is the biggest achievement for the parents when they succeed in teaching their children self control skills. When the kids learn the self control skills then they can make appropriate decisions and can respond to difficult situation. For instance, your child is demanding for ice-cream and you said that it will be served after dinner. Your child may cry after hearing this statement, there is a chance that they can scream in the expectation that you will give the ice cream.
When your child has learned, they will understand and won’t show this kind of attitude. They will understand that if they will show the aggressiveness or tantrum means they will miss the ice-cream, so they will act patiently. Infants and toddlers get frustrated by the large gap between the things they want to do and what they're able to do. They often respond with temper tantrums. Try to prevent outbursts by distracting your little one with toys or other activities. Always behave properly in front of your kids and this is the better way to teach them the good behavior and control their temper. When the parents will vent out their anger in a peaceful way then the kids will also follow the same manner.
